Holtz had trouble getting into and staying in the Golden Knights' lineup in 2024-25, racking up just 12 points over 53 regular-season appearances. He also didn't play during the postseason. Vegas is always a big player in trades and signings, so Holtz may struggle to crack the lineup again in 2025-26, and even if he plays regularly, he projects as a bottom-six forward. One sign of hope is Holtz's 5.8 shooting percentage last year, which is virtually guaranteed to improve if he gets enough ice time. He made a decent case for himself to stay in the fold with his first two points of the campaign, including the opening goal at 2:43 of the first period. Holtz has added 15 shots on net, five blocked shots, two hits, six PIM and a minus-1 rating over 10 games this season. For now, he's holding off Cole Reinhardt for a spot in the lineup, though Holtz could still find himself back in the press box once Jack Eichel (lower body) is healthy.

Holtz's reward for his first full NHL campaign -- one in which he racked up 16 goals and 12 assists over 82 games with the Devils -- was a trade to the Golden Knights during the offseason. It's expected to be a fairly lateral move, as both teams have established top-six groups and Holtz has yet to do enough to prove himself anything more than a depth option. That could change, as he's also a 22-year-old winger who's just four years removed from being drafted seventh overall. He'll be an option in deeper fantasy formats with standard scoring, but those in shallower leagues will want to wait and see how much his game grows in Vegas.
