2025 Fantasy Outlook
After appearing in all 82 regular-season games with the Kings in 2023-24, Englund suited up for just 35 total contests in 2024-25. The 29-year-old was claimed off waivers by Nashville from Los Angeles in February, and he’ll remain with the Predators in 2025-26 after signing a one-year, $775,000 contract in April. As a shutdown defenseman who provides physicality (58 hits in 24 games with Nashville), Englund’s lack of meaningful contributions in other categories gives him virtually no appeal in standard leagues, but he could make depth contributions in deeper banger formats when he’s in the lineup. However, there’s no guarantee he’ll receive steady playing time this year due to the additions of Nicolas Hague and Nick Perbix on the blue line. Read Past Outlooks

2023
2018
A part-time player for each of his first five NHL seasons, Englund came out of nowhere to play in all 82 games in his first year with Los Angeles. The offensive numbers were predictably minimal (one goal, 10 points), but Englund did register 189 hits and 87 blocked shots. As solid as the Swede was a year ago, the Kings went out and handed Joel Edmundson a whopping four-year, $15.4 million contract in free agency. The monetary commitment and length of the deal suggests Edmundson is going to take over as the third-pairing left-handed rearguard for Los Angeles and Englund may be headed back to the press box more often than not.
