2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rumors of Vasilevskiy's decline ended up being little more than preseason chatter, as the netminder had one of the best years of his career in 2024-25. He went 38-20-5 with a 2.18 GAA and a .921 save percentage over 63 games, though the Lightning couldn't get past the Panthers in the first round of the playoffs. For fantasy purposes, this could be a blessing in disguise -- Vasilevksiy has seen some extremely heavy workloads over the years, but he'll have plenty of offseason to get ready for 2025-26. The 31-year-old remains among the NHL's elite goalies, and while age will catch up to him eventually, there's not enough evidence that a decline is imminent to scare off fantasy managers who like to stock up in the crease early in drafts. Starting in goal Thursday
Vasilevskiy will protect the home goal versus the Jets on Thursday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Vasilevksiy has won four straight games, including a 28-save shutout over the Mammoth on Tuesday. The 31-year-old hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of his last eight contests, so he is very much in form. The Jets have scored just 12 goals over their last six games, so Vasilevskiy is in position to keep his hot stretch rolling.

Vasilevskiy won 30 games in 2023-24 despite missing almost two months to start the year after offseason back surgery. The campaign was rough - it's tough to step in mid-season and expect to play at NHL speed. He started to look like the Vasy of old down the stretch and had lots of time this summer to build his strength back. Vasilevskiy remains an elite option in net, courtesy of his rare combination of size, speed and athleticism. His overall stats (2.90 GAA and .900 save percentage) could keep some managers away, but Vasilevskiy should return to all-star form. While he may not be a first-round option, he figures to be one of the top goalie picks in your draft. Pro-tip on draft day? Make a mental note that his heavy workload has historically resulted in a post-All-Star dip. Consider a trade then, so that's on someone else's watch.

Might return during trip
Vasilevskiy may be ready to return from his undisclosed injury during the Lightning's four-game road trip, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Vasilevskiy was designated for injured reserve Monday, meaning he won't be an option during the club's back-to-back against the Maple Leafs and Canadiens on Monday and Tuesday. respectively. Still, it's a step in the right direction for the netminder, who has been out of action for the team's last two contests. In his stead, Jonas Johansson and Brandon Halverson figure to split the goaltending duties.
