Othmann will be a candidate for a roster spot straight out of training camp for the Rangers in 2025-26. Last season, he put up two assists in 22 NHL outings as well as 20 points and 35 PIM over 27 appearances with AHL Hartford. Othmann brings a physical edge, and while that could help him stay in the NHL this year, it could also limit him to a bottom-six role until his offense gets up to speed. Othmann has been slow to develop and has been used sparingly at the NHL level. He brings speed, tenacity and skill, and he was once considered one of the top snipers of his draft class. The Rangers have a long history of failing to develop their young players, but this could be Othmann's time. President and general manager Chris Drury has made it clear that the Rangers are in retooling mode, which means they are focusing on core players while trading some who have been part of past successes. That may give Othmann a bigger role if he can light a fire under his game.

While the NHL games weren't there for Othmann last year, he suited up in just three regular-season contests for the Rangers, his scoring touch was on full display in the minors. With AHL Hartford, the 21-year-old winger racked up 21 goals and 28 assists in 67 regular-season appearances before adding another five points in 10 Calder Cup games. The question for fantasy players is whether Othmann has shown enough at the minor-league level to warrant a roster spot heading into the 2024-25 campaign. It's probably a decision that won't be finalized until the closing days of training camp, so Othmann could be a high-risk, high-reward play in early drafts.
