2025 Fantasy Outlook
York's production took a major step back in 2024-25, though the Flyers' poor play overall didn't help. The defenseman was also largely out of the power-play mix, leading to his totals of 17 points, 126 blocked shots, 60 hits and a minus-8 rating over 66 appearances. It's a big disappointment after his 30-point campaign from 2023-24, but at 24 years old, there's still hope York can be a steady presence on offense. With the mercurial John Tortorella no longer behind the bench, York should have a better idea of his place in the lineup. It'll be on the defenseman to put together a bounce-back campaign and secure a top-four role for the long run. Read Past Outlooks

Set for IR stint
York (lower body) will start the 2025-26 campaign on injured reserve, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
York was deemed day-to-day earlier Monday due to his lower-body injury, and it's currently unclear how much time he will miss. In relation to York's recovery timeline, general manager Daniel Briere said Monday, "At the moment it's a day-to-day thing. Are we looking at a week? Are we looking at two weeks? Are we looking at two days? That's what we're trying to figure out right now," according to Adam Kimelman of NHL.com. Nick Seeler and Adam Ginning should see increased responsibilities on the left side of the blue line for as long as York is sidelined. The 24-year-old York signed a five-year, $25.75 million contract with the Flyers during the offseason, so he'll be a key part of the club's long-term plans when healthy.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2022
York has steadily risen in importance for the Flyers, recording 10 points in 30 contests in 2021-22, 20 points in 54 appearances in 2022-23 and 30 points (10 goals) across 82 outings last season. He also finished 2023-24 with 44 PIM, 174 blocked shots and 76 hits while averaging 22:37 of ice time. Still just 23 years old, York is a steal at his current $1.6 million cap hit, though he'll be due for a massive raise when he becomes a restricted free agent in the summer of 2025. In the meantime, York is likely to continue to grow a bit more offensively, especially with him projected to serve on the Flyers' top power-play unit in the upcoming campaign. It wouldn't be surprising to see him collect 35-40 points this season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Might land on IR
York, who is dealing with a lower-body injury, may have to be placed on injured reserve, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
York's potential absence would thin out a blue line that is already missing Rasmus Ristolainen due to a triceps injury. In 66 regular-season games last year, the 24-year-old York notched four goals, 13 assists and 60 hits while averaging 20:47 of ice time. At this point, York should probably be considered a heavy doubt to face the Panthers on Thursday -- though he hasn't been officially ruled out yet.
