2025 Fantasy Outlook
McAvoy was in the midst of another good season before a shoulder injury ended his season in February. In the 50 games he did play, the 27-year-old posted seven goals and 16 assists, a pace of 38 points over a full 82-game slate. The Bruins' struggles played a role in his dip in production from the 50-point seasons he’s had in recent years. He still plays heavy minutes and quarterbacks Boston’s top power play, which accounted for a total average of 23:40 of ice time in 2024-25. He also was on pace to breeze past 100 in both blocked shots and hits prior to the injury. Assuming the 27-year-old enters next season healthy, he will instantly be back to being one of the top all-around defensemen in the league, though it would help his production if the Bruins' decline was just a one-year issue. Five-game, six-point streak
McAvoy had a goal and an assist in a 10-2 win over the Rangers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
McAvoy is on a five-game, six-point scoring streak (one goal, five assists), and he has two goals and eight assists in his last 11 games. Five of those helpers have come on the power play. McAvoy also delivers in secondary categories -- he has 42 hits and 64 blocks in just 33 games this season, and 11 of his 25 points (all assists) have come with the man advantage. McAvoy is the kind of all-around defender who can help deliver you a fantasy title.

While McAvoy was able to set a new personal best with 12 goals this past season, he also failed to reach the 50-point mark for the first time in three years. Part of the decline in production is no doubt from the 26-year-old blueliner's decreased power-play points, as he managed just 13 this past season despite logging a career-high 3:14 of ice time per game with the man advantage. Still, the minutes-eating defenseman should continue to log over 24 minutes of ice time per night and figures to be a lock for the 30-point threshold at a minimum, a mark he has missed just once in his seven-year NHL career, but he should be in contention to get back over 50.
