Clay Stevenson

26-Year-Old GoalieG
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stevenson should be the Capitals' No. 3 goalie for 2025-26, though playing time will be hard to find as long as Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren stay healthy. Stevenson was 18-8-5 with a 2.94 GAA and a .888 save percentage in 33 regular-season games with AHL Hershey last year and also picked up his first NHL appearance in the Capitals' regular-season finale. At 26 years old, he's not a particularly strong prospect for a long-term NHL job, but he'll fill an organizational depth role. Read Past Outlooks
Signed a three-year, $2.325 million contract with the Capitals in December of 2023.
Hangs on for first NHL win
GWashington Capitals
January 31, 2026
Stevenson turned aside 19 of 22 shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Hurricanes.
ANALYSIS
Stevenson's first outing began on the wrong foot, as he allowed three consecutive goals inside the opening 24 minutes. From that point, he helped turn the game around as the Capitals' offense came to life to steal the win from their division rival. The 26-year-old netminder was called into action for the first time this season due to the absence of Logan Thompson (upper body) and Charlie Lindgren (lower body). Saturday's win was the first of Stevenson's career after losing his only other NHL start a season ago. His fantasy value will depend on Thompson's availability, as the Capitals' starting netminder is listed as day-to-day. With Lindgren's move to injured reserve, Stevenson could make a couple of appearances before the break for the 2026 Winter Olympics. If Thompson can't go for Washington's home clash with the Islanders on Monday, Stevenson will likely get the nod.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could make NHL debut Thursday
GWashington Capitals
April 17, 2025
Stevenson could make his NHL debut during Thursday's regular-season finale in Pittsburgh, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Stevenson was called up by the Capitals on Monday, and he appears likely to tend the twine in Thursday's regular-season finale, which would give Charlie Lindgren additional rest ahead of the playoffs. Stevenson has made 33 appearances for AHL Hershey this year, going 18-8-4 with a 2.94 GAA and .888 save percentage. It wouldn't be surprising to see him head back to the minors ahead of the postseason, especially if Logan Thompson, who has been dealing with an upper-body injury, is cleared to return.
