2025 Fantasy Outlook
After a couple of years of declining numbers, a return to the Kings was just what Kuemper needed. He posted a 31-11-7 record with a 2.02 GAA and a .921 save percentage over 50 regular-season games, though he was not the solution to the Kings' first-round woes versus the Oilers. Kuemper will be in his age-35 season in 2025-26, so it's possible this resurgent campaign was just a flash in the pan, but he's had plenty of good seasons before. The Kings gave up just 25.5 shots per game in 2024-25, which certainly made things easier for Kuemper, so any change in system or playing style for the team could lead to regression. Still, he's a low-end No. 1 or strong No. 2 goalie for fantasy purposes. Read Past Outlooks
Downed by Ducks in shootout
Kuemper stopped 27 shots in regulation and overtime and one of three shootout attempts in Friday's 5-4 loss to Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
The Kings took a 4-2 lead early in the third period, but Kuemper couldn't prevent the Ducks from rallying, and he then got beaten in the shootout by Troy Terry and Mason McTavish. The veteran netminder has just one win in his last four starts, going 1-1-2 despite a sharp 2.20 GAA and .918 save percentage over that stretch.

Kuemper is the top goaltending option for the Kings following an offseason trade with the Capitals. He struggled with Washington, posting a 35-40-10 record, 3.03 GAA and .902 save percentage in 90 games over two seasons. Kuemper delivered a 37-12-4 record with a 2.54 GAA and .921 save percentage for the 2021-22 Avalanche before winning the Stanley Cup. The Kings make average goalies look great in their defensive structure, which should help Kuemper channel some of his Colorado magic in 2024-25. He's in a great place to resurrect his career and earn another decent NHL contract. He'll be a solid second goalie on your fantasy squad.
