2025 Fantasy Outlook
For the first time since 2019, Horvat failed to reach 30 goals in a season in which he played at least 69 games. He finished the 2024-25 campaign with 28 goals and 29 assists in 81 games. He was the Islanders' best clutch scorer, though, with a career high of seven game-winning goals. The major issue for the 30-year-old is that his power-play production almost completely dried up, scoring just seven points. That number is a major outlier, one that should absolutely see positive regression towards his usual great numbers in 2025-26. The two-way center is getting towards the wrong side of 30, but with his role as the Islanders' top-line center, he should net close to 30 goals yet again. Whether his playmaking ability and power play prowess returns will determine whether he can reach his high ceiling. Read Past Outlooks
Pots pair of goals Tuesday
Horvat scored two goals, including one on the power play, placed five shots on net and served two PIM in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win over Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Horvat tallied the first goal for New York near the end of the opening period before he gave the Isles a 4-3 lead midway through the third with a power-play strike. After Tuesday's pair of scores, he is up to 19 goals, 31 points and 109 shots on goal through 31 games this season. The 30-year-old center is having one of his best starts to a season of his 12-year career. With 19 twine finders, Horvast is tied for third in the league and trails Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon by five goals for the top spot. If Horvat can maintain his current goal-scoring pace, he not only will be in the conversation for the Rocket Richard Trophy, but also should be comfortably on track to set a new career high in points if he can surpass the 70 tallies he accumulated during the 2022-23 campaign.

Horvat's first full campaign with the Islanders can be seen as a success. He provided 33 goals and 68 points in 81 contests, making it his third straight campaign with over 30 goals and second with more than 65 points. The only real sour point was Horvat's lack of success with the man advantage. He finished with 18 power-play points, which put him in a three-way tie for the eighth least among players who recorded at least 65 points overall. It wasn't for a lack of opportunity either; Horvat averaged 2:59 of ice time with the man advantage, and while the Islanders weren't great on the power play, their 20.4 percent success rate was still good enough for 19th in the league. Maybe Horvat can do a bit more this year, but his career high in power-play points is 22, so that's never been his bread-and-butter. Instead, those drafting him are better off accepting that you're getting a strong forward who will underwhelm somewhat in that one category.
