Connor Bedard

20-Year-Old CenterC
Chicago Blackhawks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Bedard made modest improvements in his sophomore season, going from 22 goals to 23 and 39 assists to 44. However, his scoring rates per 60 minutes were all worse in 2024-25 than in his rookie campaign. Chicago hasn’t put him in a great situation to succeed, surrounding him with several subpar linemates. Still, Bedard led the team in assists, points (67), power-play goals (11), power-play points (29), game-winning goals (five) and shots on net (195) across 82 games last season. He will continue to see big minutes on the team’s top line in 2025-26, which probably won’t help him improve his plus-minus rating. However, the first-overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft has abundant offensive potential, and he should make strides forward this campaign. Bedard’s entry-level contract expires next summer, giving him plenty of motivation for 2025-26, but he would benefit tremendously from a high-tier winger upgrade. Read Past Outlooks

Earns two helpers in win
CChicago Blackhawks
January 10, 2026
Bedard notched two assists, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Predators.
ANALYSIS
Bedard returned to action after a 12-game absence due to a shoulder injury, and he got back on the scoresheet one contest later. The 20-year-old center set up Tyler Bertuzzi's power-play tally in the second period and Nick Lardis' insurance marker in the third. Bedard is up to 46 points (19 goals, 27 helpers), 110 shots on net and a plus-9 rating through 33 appearances this season. He won't be taking faceoffs for a while as his shoulder gets back to full strength, but he's clearly feeling well enough to resume being the centerpiece of Chicago's offense.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Bedard, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 Entry Draft and a player many consider to be a generational talent, was fantastic as an 18-year-old rookie in 2023-24, racking up 22 goals, 61 points, 21 power-play points and 206 shots on goal while averaging 19:47 of ice time in a top-line role in 68 regular-season appearances. A fractured jaw kept Bedard sidelined for 14 games from early January through mid-February, but he picked up right where he left off upon his return from injury, racking up seven goals and 28 points through the final 29 games of the campaign. With Chicago reportedly making a concerted effort to surround Bedard with better talent up front heading into 2024-25, the 18-year-old pivot could easily threaten the 30-goal and 80-point marks if he's able to play a full 82-game season in 2024-25. Just keep in mind that his plus-minus rating - Bedard finished last season with an ugly minus-44 rating - will likely remain a sore spot for at least one more year as the Blackhawks continue their rebuild.
Players like Bedard don't come around all that often. He was unreal in the WHL, scoring 71 goals and 143 points in 57 contests with Regina last season and was similarly dominant in the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship, leading Canada with nine goals and 23 points in seven games. Bedard's offensive skills already appear to be on par with the NHL elite, and the comparisons to the likes of Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby are understandable. However, Bedard hasn't proven anything yet. His resume and skill set made it easy for Chicago to pick him with the first overall pick, but top selections don't always work out and even those that do sometimes have some growing pains. Those that take Bedard in single-season fantasy drafts will be assuming some risk, but there's also real potential for him to hit the ground running and make Blackhawks fans think back on Patrick Kane, who won the Calder Trophy in 2008 after scoring 21 goals and 72 points in 82 outings.

Will not take faceoffs for a while
CChicago Blackhawks
January 9, 2026
Bedard returned from a shoulder injury Friday, but he won't take faceoffs for a while, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Blackhawks have a number of players who can slot in at center, allowing them to be cautious as Bedard's shoulder gets back to full strength. The center didn't get on the scoresheet in his return, but he should be productive once he gets back up to speed.
