2025 Fantasy Outlook
After setting a career high with 96 points across 54 regular-season appearances with OHL London in 2023-24, Cowan wasn’t quite as big of a factor offensively last year, supplying 29 goals and 69 points in 46 regular-season outings with London. However, he stepped up in the postseason with 16 goals and 46 points in 22 games to help the Knights win the Memorial Cup as well as their second consecutive OHL championship. Now 20 years old, Cowan is going to get a long look during the Maple Leafs’ training camp, but it will be tough for him to crack the Opening Night roster. However, even if he fails to start with the Leafs, Cowan’s a great prospect and might be among the first forwards summoned from the AHL in the event of an injury. Read Past Outlooks

Recalled by NHL club

Latest Fantasy Rumors

NHL debut on hold?
Cowan probably won't make his NHL debut during Wednesday's Opening Night matchup against Montreal, Jonas Siegel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Cowan stayed on the ice for extra work in Wednesday's morning skate with the team's projected scratches. After an impressive campaign with OHL London last year, Cowan had a strong training camp ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and earned a call-up ahead of Wednesday's matchup. It's possible that Cowan heads to AHL Toronto at some point if the Maple Leafs are unable to get him regular playing time, but it's at least encouraging to see him in the mix for NHL game action early in the year.
