Unger Sorum will make the jump to North America with either the Hurricanes or AHL Chicago, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports Tuesday.

ANALYSIS
Unger Sorum spent the bulk of the 2023-24 season playing in Sweden for Lekands IF, racking up three goals and 12 assists in 35 regular-season contests. The 18-year-old winger also managed to chip in three points in six playoff contests. Selected by Carolina in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft, Unger Sorum likely faces an uphill battle to make the Opening Night roster for the Canes, but that doesn't mean he won't earn his NHL debut at some point during the 2024-25 campaign.
