Per Max Miller of The Hockey News, Chernyshov recently underwent successful shoulder surgery, his agent Dan Milstein said Wednesday.

ANALYSIS
Chernyshov was selected in the second round, 33rd overall, in June's draft and promptly bought out his KHL contract. He signed an entry-level deal with the Sharks on Aug. 1 and is expected to play for OHL Saginaw this season. Chernyshov is highly talented, and some pundits had him going as high as midway through the first round. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

Chernyshov intends to play in the NHL this upcoming season after terminating his contract with Dynamo on Wednesday, according to Sergey Demidov of NHL.com.

ANALYSIS
Chernyshov was selected with the 33rd overall pick by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Draft. The 18-year-old Russian registered three goals, one assist and a minus-3 rating in 34 contests for Moscow Dynamo in 2023-24. It remains to be seen what type of role Chernyshov will battle for this upcoming season -- San Jose has bolstered their lineup through free agency and trades this offseason.
