                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Mikheyev didn't generate much production to begin 2024-25, going nine games without a point to begin the season. Through the end of December, he had just 12 points in 36 games, but he turned things around in the second half and ended up with 20 goals and 34 points in a career-high 80 contests by the end of the season. Mikheyev's game is skilled and subtle, including a substantial penalty-killing role with very little power-play usage. Combined with a lack of overt physicality, his offerings aren't the most fantasy-friendly among players in the deep-league fringe range. Still, he can offer some offense and a decent shot total, so he's at least worth keeping an eye on as a streamer if the Blackhawks' offense takes a step forward in 2025-26. Considered game-time decision
Mikheyev (upper body) is considered a game-time decision for Thursday's matchup against Winnipeg, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
				  ANALYSIS
Mikheyev is considered day-to-day, and he was deemed a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup against the Senators before not suiting up. However, he participated in Thursday's morning skate and will be evaluated once again in the hours leading up to puck drop.

Mikheyev was able to play in 78 regular-season contests in 2023-24, earning 11 goals and 20 assists with 147 shots on net for the Canucks. That would be his second and final year with the team, as Vancouver dumped his salary off to Chicago in a trade just before the draft. Regardless of how much he's played, Mikheyev appears to peak as a 30-35-point winger who adds little in physicality. There's room for a scoring-only winger in deep fantasy formats, but the Blackhawks were aggressive in adding to their forward group this offseason, so it's unlikely Mikheyev will get more than middle-six usage and a chance at power-play time in 2024-25. Factor in the injury risk, and there are better options to fill out the bottom of your roster on draft day.

				  Heading to Chicago?
Mikheyev is expected to be traded to the Blackhawks this week, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
				  ANALYSIS
The Canucks are looking to trim salary, presumably to make a splash in free agency when the market opens July 1. Mikheyev has two years left on a deal carrying a $4.75 million cap hit, and the Blackhawks have plenty of space and could use some NHL-level talent to fill out their roster.
