2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sorokin made small improvements in 2024-25 compared to his career-worst 2023-24 campaign. In 61 appearances last season, the netminder had a 30-24-6 record with a 2.71 GAA and a .907 save percentage. The Islanders rarely gave him much scoring support to work with, but it's encouraging to see him partially get back to the level he established in his first three campaigns. He was also largely healthy in 2024-25, which helps his outlook moving forward. He'll be a reliable fantasy option due to his workload, though he won't weigh down any fantasy team's stats as long as the Islanders are at least around the playoff bubble. Read Past Outlooks
Posts third shutout of season
Sorokin made 32 saves in a 2-0 win over the Lightning on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Sorokin was especially sharp in the second period when he denied Anthony Cirelli twice during a Tampa Bay power play. Sorokin also stymied Brandon Hagel right after the man-advantage situation expired. It was Sorokin's third shutout of the season and 25th in the NHL. He's put up three straight wins, including two this week over the Bolts.

Sorokin's brilliant 2022-23 put him in the top tier of elite NHL netminders, but his abysmal 2023-24 ultimately put him on the bench behind his backup, Semyon Varlamov. Sorokin's GAA shot up from 2.34 to 3.01, and his save percentage dropped from .924 to .909. He played deeper in his net, leaving him less time to react, and his tracking and rebound control wasn't sharp. So, which Sorokin will show up in 2024-25? Likely one in between. The Isles really haven't addressed their lack of scoring, other than to add Anthony Duclair, but their blue line will be healthier. Sorokin is still elite, and we all need to remember that even .909 is above league average. Draft for upside when he drops because of last season.
