Howard agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with Edmonton in the summer after being acquired from Tampa Bay. The 21-year-old forward collected 26 goals and 52 points in 37 games with Michigan State University in 2024-25. He will get every opportunity to secure a roster spot with the Oilers out of training camp and should land a place in the team’s top nine. Howard’s offensive upside makes him an intriguing option in keeper formats, and he could have plenty of fantasy value in standard leagues if he plays alongside Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid in 2025-26. The 21-year-old rookie hasn't had a smooth landing to settle into an NHL job, playing primarily in a bottom-six role with minimal power-play time to begin his career. He's put at least one shot on net in nine of his 10 outings, racking up 12 shots in total as well as six PIM and a minus-1 rating. Dynasty managers will want to be patient, but those in redraft leagues can afford to wait for Howard to move up in the lineup.
