2025 Fantasy Outlook
Setting a new career-high mark in goals is a good way to make a first impression on your new team and fanbase, and that’s exactly what DeBrusk did in his first year with the Canucks. The 28-year-old potted 28 goals last season, eclipsing the mark of 27 he set twice in his career, most recently in 2022-23. Much of that damage came on the power play where he scored 14 times, his first season scoring double-digit goals with the man advantage. He scored on 16.4 percent of his shots on goal, slightly above his career mark of 13.0 percent, so he may regress a bit. Regardless, the Canucks must get more from their forwards in order to truly unlock DeBrusk’s full abilities. If they can do that, DeBrusk, now in the prime of his career, is a candidate for his first 30-goal season as a pro in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
Strikes on power play in loss
DeBrusk scored a power-play goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
DeBrusk has scored in three straight games and four of the last five. Three of his four goals in that span have come on the power play, where his spot on the top unit is starting to pay off. The winger is up to six tallies, eight points, 53 shots on net, 15 hits and a minus-2 rating across 18 appearances. While it's good to see him get more offense, DeBrusk carries a decent amount of risk in a third-line role at even strength.

Seven years in Boston came to an end for DeBrusk when the free-agency window opened and the winger signed a seven-year, $38.5 million contract with Vancouver. The hard-working forward missed the 20-goal mark this past season by just one tally but was still able to reach the 40-point threshold for the fifth time in his seven-year NHL career. The Edmonton native should be in contention for the top power-play unit with his new club, which should help him get back to generating 20-plus goals during the 2024-25 campaign. In fact, with a strong supporting cast and a top-six assignment, DeBrusk might be capable of topping his 2022-23 numbers when he set personal bests in both goals (27) and points (50).

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Leafs showing interest
DeBrusk, a pending unrestricted free agent, is garnering interest from the Maple Leafs, David Alter of TheHockeyNews.com reports.
ANALYSIS
DeBrusk had five goals and 11 points in 13 playoff games this year after a lackluster regular season in which he managed only 19 goals and 21 helpers in 80 appearances. DeBrusk is a top-six forward and could fit in nicely alongside Auston Matthews on the Maple Leafs' top line should he end up signing with Toronto.
