Nelson has yet to play a game in the NHL, spending the duration of his pro career in the AHL since finishing his five-year NCAA career at the University of Minnesota. Last season, the 25-year-old had two goals and seven assists in 35 games with AHL Providence. ANALYSIS
Nelson wrapped up his fifth collegiate season with the University of Minnesota, having racked up 42 goals and 47 assists in 169 appearances for the Gophers. While serving as the team captain this year, Nelson set a new career best with 19 goals and 31 assists. Undrafted coming out of college, the 24-year-old center would likely spend at least a year with AHL Providence before getting a shot at a spot with the Bruins.
