2025 Fantasy Outlook
After finally getting a taste of the postseason with the Oilers, Skinner joined the last-placed Sharks on a one-year, $3 million contract in the summer. He contributed just 16 goals and 29 points over 72 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. The top-six forward group of the Sharks has some talent to play with as Skinner looks to recapture his goal-scoring touch. He could become a trade chip at the deadline if San Jose remains in the basement of the league standings. He should average far more ice time with his new team, giving him a chance to increase his shot volume and goal-scoring in the 2025-26 campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Expected to miss two weeks
Skinner is slated to miss at least two weeks due to his lower-body injury, Max Miller of NHL.com reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Skinner was classified as week-to-week, so it could still be longer before he is given the all-clear. Prior to getting hurt, the 33-year-old winger was stuck in a five-game goal drought that will likely have to wait until December for the Toronto native to break.

Last season, Skinner recorded just 24 goals and 22 assists, including 12 power-play points, in 74 regular-season contests. As a result, the Sabres decided to part ways with the veteran winger by buying out the remaining three seasons of the eight-year, $72 million deal he signed with the club back in June of 2019. With free reign to sign wherever he wanted, the sharpshooter opted to join the Stanley Cup runner-ups in Edmonton. There will likely be an open competition to play on the top line with Connor McDavid, but even if Skinner finds himself on the second line, he will still be playing with an elite center in Leon Draisaitl. With that level of playmaking support, Skinner could challenge for the 40-goal threshold for just the second time in his career.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Available if needed
Skinner will be an option against Florida in Game 3 on Monday if Ryan Nugent-Hopkins can't play due to his undisclosed injury, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Skinner's presence in the lineup won't be determined until after warm-ups, as Nugent-Hopkins is expected to test out his injury right before the game. Even if Skinner does play, he is unlikely to be a one-for-one replacement, with Leon Draisaitl the most likely candidate to move into a first-line role. Still, Skinner should see plenty of minutes, including some time with the No. 2 power-play unit if he plays.
