2025 Fantasy Outlook
Leonard wasn't able to secure an NHL-level deal in 2024-25, instead spending the campaign with AHL Charlotte. The Panthers' depth in the NHL played a large role in that, but Leonard did his part with the farm team, racking up 61 points in 72 regular-season games and another 14 points in 18 playoff outings. The 27-year-old looks too good to be just a career minor-leaguer, but he has struggled to secure NHL minutes with three organizations, totaling 17 points in 70 career appearances. Look for Leonard to compete for a bottom-six job with the Red Wings in training camp, though he's unlikely to be an everyday player for Detroit this year. Read Past Outlooks

Pots pair in Griffins' win
Leonard scored two goals on four shots in AHL Grand Rapids' 4-2 win over Manitoba on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Leonard has started the Griffins' season with three goals and one assist over three games. The Massachusetts native spent parts of four campaigns in the NHL but has struggled to assert himself at that level. He had 61 points in 72 regular-season contests for AHL Charlotte last year, so his scoring success with Grand Rapids should come as no surprise.

A former sixth-round pick (No. 182 overall) in 2018, Leonard shocked many by cracking the San Jose roster right out of training camp a season ago. He went on to play in 44 of San Jose's 56 regular-season games, finishing with three goals, 13 points, and a minus-7 rating. Leonard was a big scorer in his final collegiate seasons at UMass-Amherst, but he's in line to fill more of a depth role at the NHL level. It's a home run outcome for the Sharks regardless due to where Leonard was drafted. The 23-year-old New Jersey native should start next season in San Jose, although he won't have much fantasy value on a middling team.
