The Canucks are reportedly in no hurry to sign Lekkerimaki, Rick Dhaliwal of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Lekkerimaki was selected by the organization with the 165th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft but it seems the team is willing to let him continue playing overseas for Djurgardens IF junior squad without putting pen to paper on an entry-level deal. Even if he did sign an ELC, the 18-year-old winger would likely remain in Sweden for at least another year in order to further his development.
