2025 Fantasy Outlook
Spence basically repeated his totals from 2023-24, recording four goals, 28 points, 16 PIM, 86 shots and 80 hits across 79 regular-season appearances last season. The only main categories with a notable year-over-year difference were in terms of plus-minus (plus-5 to plus-23) and blocks (55 to 77). You typically want to look at the team as much as you do the player when projecting the outcome in plus-minus, but it is worth noting that Spence saw significant jumps in 5v5 relative Corsi and Fenwick percentages, which suggests he’s becoming a stronger two-way defender as he gains experience. He'll be going from the Kings' strong defensive system to a less successful group in the Senators after a June trade, and his path to power-play time is largely blocked by Jake Sanderson and Thomas Chabot, which could hurt his offense. 2024 Fantasy Outlook
Spence was quite efficient in a third-pairing role last season, producing 24 points - six on the power play - through 71 games while averaging just 14:26 of ice time. The 23-year-old will have an opportunity to take the next step during the 2024-25 campaign, as he could slot into the second pairing while maintaining his power-play usage now that Matt Roy left for Washington. His main competition for the role is 2021 first-round pick Brandt Clarke. Considering how effective Spence was offensively in the AHL, there's plenty of fantasy upside for the youngster should he secure that role, making him a wise late-round flier.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Wants everyday role
Spence may be traded by the Kings if the team makes additions to the right side of its defense, John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Spence wants to play every day, but he is considered the No. 3 blueliner on the right side of the Kings' defense. Should the team make a splash in free agency, he may not have a spot in the lineup. Spence is valued by the Kings, but a trade may provide the opportunity the player is looking for while helping the team address other needs. He had 28 points, 80 hits, 77 blocked shots and a plus-23 rating in 79 regular-season games in 2024-25.
