2025 Fantasy Outlook
Morrissey finished the 2024-25 regular season with 14 goals and 62 points across 80 outings, which marks his third straight campaign with over 60 points. For a defenseman, maintaining that level of offensive output for any extended period is rare, but Morrissey’s still in his prime at the age of 30, so he’s got great hockey left in him. The one factor working against that might be his health. Morrissey sustained a knee injury in Game 6 of Winnipeg’s second-round series against Dallas that would have likely kept him out of the remainder of the playoffs had the Jets advanced beyond that point. He didn’t require surgery, but it remains to be seen if he’ll miss time or if the recovery process negatively impacts his summer training. That makes him a touch higher risk, but he still should be projected to record about 60 points. Read Past Outlooks

Morrissey set a career high of 37 points in 2021-22 and then promptly shattered it in 2022-23 with 16 goals and 76 points across 78 outings. The blueliner didn't set new personal bests again last season, but he proved that the old ones weren't a fluke by supplying 10 goals and 69 points in 81 contests. At this point, his eight-year, $50 million contract looks like a steal, and the Jets should be counting their lucky stars that it runs through the 2027-28 campaign. Morrissey can also help fantasy managers in terms of shots (196 in 2023-24), blocked shots (103), hits (90) and PIM (44), but those are just nice extras to go along with his phenomenal offensive production. Look for him to record over 65 points once again while eating up huge minutes with the Jets.
