Justin Bailey

Justin Bailey

29-Year-Old Right WingRW
San Jose Sharks
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Bailey was unable to carve out a significant role in San Jose last season despite the fact he played for the league-worst Sharks. He appeared in 59 games, managing five goals and 14 points. He was much better in 16 AHL appearances, posting 11 points. A second-round pick of the Sabres in 2013, Bailey has now played for four different organizations. He inked a new one-year, two-way contract with San Jose in late June and appears likely to begin next season back in the minors given the fact the Sharks went out of their way to upgrade their forward group this offseason. ANALYSIS
Bailey suited up in 59 contests with the Sharks after agreeing to a two-way deal with the team in late November. He contributed five goals, 14 points, 70 shots on net and 76 hits at the NHL level. Bailey also earned six goals and 11 points in 16 regular-season outings with AHL San Jose in 2023-24. He will compete for a depth spot with the Sharks during training camp in the fall.

Cap Compliance: Vancouver Canucks
July 2, 2020
AJ Scholz and Kyle Riley weigh in on how they believe the Canucks should approach free agency this offseason.

Bailey was excellent with AHL Utica in 2019-20, racking up 28 goals and 19 assists in 53 appearances, but he was limited to just two NHL games with the Canucks. At 25 years old, this appears to be the near-term future for Bailey -- he can dominate the minor leagues, but a deep forward group in Vancouver blocks his path to big-league playing time. In 2020-21, Bailey could be a candidate for the Canucks' taxi squad, as he has 65 NHL games under his belt and doesn't need prime developmental minutes in the minors. Fantasy managers won't need to roster him.
The 6-foot-4 forward was leapfrogged by Nicholas Baptiste on the depth chart last year, but the Sabres are willing to be patient and consider Bailey a part of their plan moving forward. Power forwards tend to take a bit longer to develop as they get more experience and add more muscle, but the early signs certainly are promising; Bailey scored 10 goals and 15 points in 37 games with AHL Rochester and three goals in 12 games with the Sabres. He's in position to win a roster spot but the Sabres may elect to keep Bailey in the AHL for a bit longer as he continues to develop.
Bailey made significant strides in his development and appeared in 32 games for the Sabres last year, scoring two goals and four points. The budding power forward will likely split the season between Buffalo and AHL Rochester again as he continues to develop. He's a future top-nine winger who can make a difference with his size and skill, but will need more seasoning in the pros.
The 19-year-old power forward will be one of the Kitchener Rangers’ key players for the 2014-15 season. The kid from nearby Williamsville, N.Y. finished the OHL season with 25 goals, an eight-goal improvement from last year, to tie for the team lead. The second-round pick from 2013 will remain in the OHL for the foreseeable future before turning pro. Bailey has not been signed by the Sabres yet but may do at the conclusion of the season.
Bailey is a rangy forward with excellent foot speed, and the Sabres saw enough potential in him to select him in the 2nd round, 58th overall in June’s NHL Draft. He put up 36 points in 57 games with Kitchener of the OHL last season, and is slated to return to junior hockey for at least another season. There’s power-forward upside here, but it will be several seasons before he hits the fantasy radar.
