2025 Fantasy Outlook
Selected No. 3 overall in 2019, Dach has yet to live up to the expectations of a top-three pick. The 24-year-old has been limited by injuries -- he hasn’t played in more than 58 regular-season games over the last three campaigns. The skilled playmaker had 10 goals, 22 points and an ugly minus-29 rating over 57 regular-season appearances in 2024-25, but he missed the last 25 games due to a knee surgery. While he’s expected to be ready for the 2025-26 season, Dach’s injury history clouds his potential for fantasy. However, Montreal’s upward trajectory combined with Dach being in a contract year could make the right-shot center an interesting late-round target in fantasy drafts, but that’s contingent on him staying healthy. Expect the forward to fill a middle-six role while seeing power-play time, while the possibility of playing on a line with top prospect Ivan Demidov could elevate Dach’s performance. Good to play Thursday
Dach (knee) will play in Thursday's preseason game against Toronto, per the NHL media site.
ANALYSIS
Dach didn't play past Feb. 22 during the 2024-25 campaign due to a knee injury. He should open the upcoming season in a top-six capacity, potentially on the second line alongside Patrik Laine and Ivan Demidov.

2019
Selected by Chicago with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Dach never quite clicked with the Blackhawks, and after being traded to Montreal, he's shown promise but has been held back due to injuries. He played in only two games last season before tearing his right ACL and MCL, and that's after he was limited to 58 appearances in 2022-23. Combine that with 2020-21 when he played in just 18 contests, and a worrying pattern has emerged. Under ideal circumstances, the 23-year-old has plenty of potential, but it's hard to feel confident about his prospects between his past on-ice struggles and his significant injury history.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Skating with game group
Dach, who is working his way back from knee surgery, took the ice Thursday with the group that will face Toronto, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Dach was previously reported to be targeting a return to action Opening Night, so it's possible he was just getting some ice time in with the main group. Still, the 24-year-old center would certainly benefit from some preseason game action, considering he has been sidelined since Feb. 22 due to his knee injury. Whether Dach plays Thursday or not, it would seem to be an indication he'll be ready to kick off the season Oct. 8 against the Leafs.
