2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kaprizov was the odds-on favorite to win the Hart Trophy after scoring 52 points in 37 games to start the season. Then, a lower-body injury derailed those chances. He returned for the season’s final 10 games and turned in a dominant postseason. The hesitation with Kaprizov is not the talent – there aren’t many better wingers in the NHL when healthy – but that he’s missed significant time in two of the last three seasons. He’s a play-driver capable of 110-point seasons and the leader of one of the best lines in hockey with Joel Eriksson Ek and Matt Boldy. Now in the prime of his career, if Kaprizov can be counted on to play at least 75 games in the 2025-26 season, expect a guy who could finally get his first 50-goal season after flirting with it two times prior and could be back in Hart Trophy contention as well. Three-game, seven-assist streak
Kaprizov picked up two assists Tuesday in a 4-3 loss to Montreal.
ANALYSIS
One came on the power play. Kaprizov is on a three-game, seven-assist streak (nine shots), but he has just three goals in his last 16 games. Even with the goal slump, Kaprizov sits in a tie for seventh overall in the NHL in goals with 25. A quick spurt of goals and he'll be in the top five.

Since moving from the KHL's CSKA Moscow to the Wild in 2020-21, Kaprizov has been one of the NHL's best goal scorers, ranking sixth with 160 markers across 278 contests over the past four seasons. The 27-year-old continued his success in 2023-24, supplying 46 tallies and 96 points in 75 appearances. He managed to reach the 40-goal milestone for the third straight campaign despite providing just eight goals over his first 29 appearances. A cold start isn't an entirely new concept for him -- he also supplied only three markers through his first 15 games in 2021-22 en route to a 47-goal campaign -- so don't overreact if he doesn't initially live up to expectations this year. When the dust settles on 2024-25, he will have likely contributed over 40 goals and 80 points.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set to sign extension
Kaprizov and the Wild have reportedly agreed to terms on a massive, record-breaking contract, per Kevin Weekes of ESPN on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Kaprizov reportedly turned down an eight-year, $128 million contract extension previously, so it would seem the two sides were able to work the numbers. There should be little doubt that Kaprizov's new deal will come in at an AAV above the $14 million being earned by Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl. Even with a new deal in place, Kaprizov is unlikely to be the highest-paid player in the league for long, considering Connor McDavid needs a new deal next season.
