Waived by club
Pederson (upper body) was designated for waivers by the Flyers on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Pederson evidently has been cleared of his upper-body injury in order to be waived for the purpose of reassignment to the minors. It's unlikely the 28-year-old center will get picked up off the waiver wire, so expect him to land with AHL Lehigh Valley, where he will likely play the bulk of his games this season.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Pederson has spent parts of three seasons in the NHL, playing with four different organizations during that span. He will be joining his fifth team this fall after signing a two-year, $1.55 million contract with the Oilers in free agency. Pederson likely has the inside track to claiming one of the final forward spots on the Edmonton roster, but with four goals and nine points in 54 career games, there's no fantasy impact here regardless of the outcome.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Candidate for NHL roster spot
Pederson has the potential to battle for a roster spot on the Oilers in 2024-25, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Pederson has not appeared in an NHL game since the 2022-23 season with Columbus. The 27-year-old forward has played for four different NHL clubs, but he hasn't appeared in more than 29 contests in a season. Pederson played for Edmonton's AHL club, the Bakersfield Condors in 2023-24, registering 52 points and a plus-8 rating in 66 outings. The Saskatoon native might have been a recall candidate this past season, but getting injured early in the year likely hindered his chances. Pederson will attempt to make the big club in 2024-25 at the expense of veteran fourth-line center Derek Ryan.
