2025 Fantasy Outlook
Draisaitl was limited to 71 regular-season outings in 2024-25, but that didn't stop him from leading the league with 52 goals on 240 shots while also supplying 54 assists. It's the third time in four years that he's surpassed the 50-goal milestone and the sixth time in seven seasons that he's contributed over 40 goals. To put that into context, only Auston Matthews has more regular-season goals dating back to 2018-19, and even then, the difference is just three markers (327 to 324). Draisaitl remained effective during the 2025 playoffs, adding another 11 goals and 33 points over 22 appearances. He'll celebrate his 30th birthday Oct. 27, but Draisaitl likely still has plenty of elite years left in him. It's reasonable to pencil him in for over 40 goals and 100 points this season. Finds twine in loss
Draisaitl scored a goal in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Red Wings.
ANALYSIS
Draisaitl found the back of the net at 7:33 of the third period. While it was a disappointing night offensively for Edmonton with just 18 shots on net, his goal is a sign that he should continue to produce even when the team struggles. Draisaitl is up to four goals, five points and 14 shots on net in six appearances this season. His goal Sunday was just his second point at even strength this year, which is a step in the right direction. Draisaitl will look to help the Edmonton offense heat up after a sluggish 2-3-1 start to the regular season. If history serves us correctly, expect to see a bump in points in the near future.

Draisaitl has surpassed the 100-point plateau in five of the last six seasons, but surprisingly, 2023-24 was a slight step back for him. He topped 50 goals in 2021-22 and 2022-23 before scoring 41 this past campaign. He also went from a career-high 128 points in 2022-23 to 106 points in 2023-24. Still, fantasy managers shouldn't feel too disappointed by his performance. Draisaitl's consistent offensive production, his knack for multi-point games, and his dominance on the power play make him a top choice for roster building. He dealt with a rib and a hand injury during Edmonton's playoff run but should be ready for the beginning of training camp, though he may be limited until the regular season starts. Draisaitl will be highly motivated to accumulate points in the 2024-25 season as it marks the conclusion of his eight-year, $68 million contract.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Eight-year deal forthcoming
Draisaitl and the Oilers have reportedly made significant progress on an eight-year contract extension, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Previous reports indicate that Draisaitl's deal will come in with an average annual value of around $13.5 million, which would put him ahead of teammate Connor McDavid. Considering the 28-year-old Draisaitl has reached the 100-point threshold in five of the last six seasons, with the lone exception being the COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign, he is certainly worth the long-term investment for the Oilers. Still, even with the cap expected to rise significantly in the future, that would see Edmonton committing $26 million to just two players -- and that's before McDavid becomes eligible for an extension July 1.
