Lukas Reichel

Lukas Reichel

23-Year-Old Right WingRW
Vancouver Canucks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Reichel spent his first season fully in the NHL in 2024-25, playing 70 games with eight goals and 14 assists. The 23-year-old displayed immense potential when he scored seven goals in 23 games in his age-20 season, but the German forward has scored just 13 times in the 135 games since then. There are concerns going forward, as he finished the season on the fourth line and averaged just 11:55 of ice time, the lowest in his four seasons. With Reichel able to devote a full offseason of training back at his natural wing position after a brief experiment at center, combined with the fact that he will likely still see some time on the team’s power play, it gives him some upside if he can unlock his potential. Still, the lack of even-strength usage on a team that struggles to score is a big red flag. Read Past Outlooks
Signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract extension with the Blackhawks in May of 2024. Traded to the Canucks in October of 2025.
Placed on waivers Saturday
RWVancouver Canucks  Minors
December 13, 2025
Reichel was placed on waivers Saturday and has been given non-roster waiver status.
ANALYSIS
It appears that Reichel and the Canucks are about to part company. Reichel has only one assist in 14 games since he was acquired from Chicago on Oct. 24. The Canucks have attempted to deal him, but to no avail.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
While Reichel was able to log a career-best 65 NHL games this past season, he only increased his point total by one (16) when compared to the previous campaign. The additions of Tyler Bertuzzi and Teuvo Teravainen could bolster Chicago's attacking options but likely will serve to remove Reichel from being a power-play option. If he can play a full 82-game season, the 22-year-old German could push for the 20-point threshold but is unlikely to significantly increase his offensive output moving forward.
Blackhawks fans will understandably be fixated on everything Connor Bedard does this season, but he's not the only high-end prospect Chicago fans have to root for. While Reichel isn't projected to be a generational talent like Bedard, he has the potential to develop into a great top-six forward and should make significant strides this season. Reichel already impressed in 2022-23, scoring 20 goals and 51 points in 55 AHL contests, along with seven goals and 15 points in 23 outings with Chicago. It will be interesting to see if Chicago experiments with playing Reichel and Bedard together, but even if the young duo is kept separate, Reichel is a serious breakout candidate with the potential to breach the 20-goal and 50-point milestones in his first full NHL campaign.
Virtually nothing went right for the Blackhawks at the NHL level a season ago, but Reichel's performance in his first North American campaign was exceptional. Playing the entire year at age 19, Reichel averaged more than a point-per-game (21 goals, 57 points in 56 games) for AHL Rockford. He also managed just one assist in an 11-game stint with Chicago. Reichel should be a regular for the team this coming season given the club's scorched-earth rebuild, but the real fantasy production may be a couple years away.

Expected to go on waivers
RWVancouver Canucks  Minors
December 13, 2025
Reichel is expected to be placed on waivers Saturday, barring a trade, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
ANALYSIS
The Canucks have apparently been trying to trade Reichel, and with Friday's trade of Quinn Hughes to Minnesota for Marco Rossi, Zev Buium and Liam Ohgren, the Vancouver roster is suddenly overflowing. Reichel was dealt from Chicago on Oct. 24 for a 2027 fourth-round pick, but he has only one assist in 14 games in a Vancouver uniform.
