2025 Fantasy Outlook
Getting fully healthy this offseason after suffering a broken ankle in April will be the first priority for Ferraro, but he’s projected to be ready for training camp. He’s coming off a solid season in which he recorded five goals and 12 assists in 78 games while averaging 21:24 of ice time. The 26-year-old (27 on Sept. 17) also recorded 150 hits and 125 blocked shots last year. He drew a lot of tough assignments as the top defenseman on the rebuilding Sharks, which led to an ugly minus-25 rating. Regardless, the six-year veteran could be a sneaky good sleeper option as the quality of the team improves around him, which could unlock some more offense along with his strong hit and shot blocking numbers. Earns two points late in win
Ferraro scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
ANALYSIS
Both of Ferraro's points came on empty-netters, as he scored one from the full length of the rink before helping out on Macklin Celebrini's tally. With four points over the last five games, Ferraro has been a little more involved than usual on offense, though it's unlikely to last. The defenseman is at three goals, 11 points, 49 shots on net, 77 hits, 83 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 42 appearances, giving him a chance to push for just the second 20-point campaign of his career.

While Ferraro was able to surpass the 20-point threshold for the first time in his five-year NHL career, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be banking heavily on his offensive upside. The 25-year-old blueliner doesn't have a role with the man advantage and didn't produce at a high level even in college or junior hockey. Still, in certain formats that utilize hits and blocked shots, the Toronto native might have some value considering he racked up 124 and 195, respectively, last season. Perhaps an improved squad around him can increase Ferraro's disastrous plus-minus rating (minus-38 last year) but otherwise, it won't have a significant impact on his 2024-25 campaign.

Yet to discuss extension
Ferraro hasn't begun discussions on a contract extension with the Sharks, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Ferraro is in the final season of a four-year, $13 million deal he signed with the Sharks back in August of 2022. If the two sides don't start talking soon, the 27-year-old defenseman could be a trade piece heading into the March deadline. With 11 points through 43 games this season, Ferraro could be in line to top the career-best 21 points he racked up in 2023-24.
