Knee
June 25, 2025
Fehervary (knee) is expected to be ready for training camp, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Fehervary is expected to resume skating in a couple of weeks, so he should be able to get back on track for a fairly normal offseason training regimen. He underwent meniscus surgery in late April. The defenseman is expected to occupy a top-four role for the Capitals in 2025-26 after posting a career-high 25 points in 81 regular-season outings last season.

Fehervary doesn't score much, but he was unquestionably Washington's second-most important defenseman a season ago behind John Carlson. Fehervary missed about a month beginning in late February with a lower-body injury but was otherwise healthy. He appeared in 66 regular-season games, posting three goals, 16 points, 188 hits and 209 blocks. The hit/block totals are intriguing, and would theoretically give Fehervary value in deeper leagues that value such numbers. Still, the Caps added both Jakob Chychrun and Matt Roy to their defensive corps this offseason, meaning Fehervary is a prime candidate for a role reduction.
He doesn't score much, but Fehervary had 16 points, 217 hits and 128 blocked shots as a physical leader on the Capitals' blue line last year. He was rewarded with a three-year contract, so he should be sticking around for a while as a top-four shutdown defenseman. Fehervary's style and role won't make him much of a factor in fantasy, but he'll have his value in deeper formats that reward his lofty hit counts. The soon-to-be 24-year-old has often been paired with John Carlson, so it's safe to assume Fehervary will continue to push for 20 minutes per game this year.
Fehervary's impact on the Washington lineup a season ago went well beyond his mediocre scoring numbers. The Slovak played the entire year at age 22, posting eight goals and 17 points in 79 games. He averaged 19:39 of ice time per game, finishing with 251 hits, good for seventh most in the entire league, and he added 117 blocks. It was quite a performance from a guy who entered the year having played all of six NHL games. Given Fehervary's youth and his importance to the Capitals, he's a must-draft in leagues that value hits and blocks heading into the 2022-23 campaign.
Fehervary had a cup of coffee with the Capitals in 2019-20, earning one assist in six games. The 21-year-old defenseman added 14 points in 56 games with AHL Hershey during his first North American campaign. Fehervary will be hard-pressed to find much playing time in 2020-21, as the addition of his countryman Zdeno Chara will plug the former's path to third-pairing minutes. A defensive player, Fehervary probably isn't worth holding in dynasty formats, either, as he's at least a couple of years away from being a regular contributor with the parent club.

May avoid absence
DWashington Capitals
January 2, 2025
Fehervary, who suffered a facial injury against the Bruins on Tuesday, is practicing ahead of Thursday's clash with Minnesota, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports, indicating he could be good to go.
ANALYSIS
Fehervary has yet to find the back of the net in 37 games this season and is mired in a five-game pointless streak as well. As such, the Slovakian blueliner's potential return to the lineup is unlikely to impact the majority of fantasy managers. If he does miss out, look for Dylan McIlrath to replace Fehervary on the backend.
