2025 Fantasy Outlook
Despite missing 20 games to various issues, Marchment was able to come near his usual level of production with 22 goals, 47 points, 134 shots on net, 79 hits and 53 PIM. The agitating winger clicked well with Matt Duchene and Tyler Seguin early in the season, but Seguin's long-term hip injury kept the line from being together from December onward. Marchment will be entering a contract year in 2025-26, so there will be plenty of motivation for him to earn his second 50-point campaign, though that could be tougher to achieve after he was traded to Seattle. He should still be a top-six fixture and receive power-play time, but he'll need to build chemistry with new teammates. Read Past Outlooks

Back at practice
Marchment (illness) participated in Sunday's practice, Sound of Hockey reports.
ANALYSIS
Marchment returned to the ice after leaving Thursday's practice early and sitting out Friday's preseason game versus Vancouver. He registered 22 goals, 47 points, 134 shots on net and 79 hits over 62 regular-season appearances with Dallas in 2024-25. After being acquired from the Stars in the offseason, Marchment will probably occupy a middle-six role for Seattle this campaign.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Marchment's production will likely never reach elite levels, but it's more than enough to keep him in a middle-six role for the Stars. He had a career year in 2023-24, racking up 22 goals, 53 points, 150 shots on net and 81 regular-season games played, all of which were career highs. The 29-year-old meshed with Matt Duchene and Tyler Seguin on the second line, especially early in the campaign, though that magic combination faded late -- Marchment had just seven points over the last 27 contests. At his best, Marchment looks like a 20-goal, 50-to-55-point option who can add 100-plus hits and 50-plus PIM. He'll also see some power-play time with the second unit, giving him a safe floor in a variety of fantasy formats.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Likely to remain in lineup
Saad Yousuf of The Athletic doesn't believe Marchment will spend time as a healthy scratch, even if he takes some bad penalties.
ANALYSIS
Marchment has already accumulated 26 PIM through 11 contests to go with two goals, four points and 10 hits. Part of the reason why Marchment is likely to stay in the lineup is the Stars' injury situation -- Matt Duchene and Radek Faksa are both day-to-day with upper-body issues -- and their cap situation makes it impractical to call up an alternative from the AHL at this time. Marchment's contract, a four-year, $18 million deal that runs through 2025-26, might also work in his favor. While it's easy to say he's getting overpaid for what he's bringing to the table, Yousuf believes the Stars will be reluctant to bench such an expensive player for any significant stretch of time even in a scenario where there's arguably a slightly better alternative serving as a healthy scratch.
