2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hischier recorded 69 points across 75 regular-season outings in 2024-25, including a career-high 35 goals. He might not match that goal count this season -- his 18.7 shooting percentage from 2024-25 is a bit of a red flag given his career average of 13.3 -- but he’s already proven he can replicate last year’s point production. The 26-year-old has hit the 60-point milestone in four consecutive seasons despite missing 31 collective games due to injury over that span. He’s also emerged as a dominant presence on the draw, winning 1,772 of 3,164 faceoffs (56 percent) across the past two campaigns. By the high standards of first overall picks, Hischier is slightly lacking, but there’s no question that he’s a talented forward who should play at a high level for years to come. Read Past Outlooks
Distributes helper on lone goal
Hischier tallied an assist, put three shots on net and blocked three shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Islanders.
ANALYSIS
Hischier recorded the primary assist on New Jersey's lone goal, which Brett Pesce scored. Hischier is up to 19 assists, 29 points, 92 shots on goal, 29 hits and 38 blocks through 37 games this season. While he has cooled down offensively since his 12-point, six-game run near the end of November, the 26-year-old forward has added 31 shots on net, 11 blocks and nine hits in his last 11 games. The return of Jack Hughes has helped lighten Hischier's workload, as the latter has been able to skate nearly a minute and a half less than his average ice time in December. The change should allow Hischier to bring balance back to his game, making him a fantastic buy-low candidate in fantasy with 80-point potential and solid category coverage.

Taken with the No. 1 overall pick in 2017, Hischier was solid right out of the gate, but still took a few years to realize his potential. However, after providing 31 goals and 80 points in 81 contests in 2022-23 followed by 27 markers and 67 points in 71 games last season, it's safe to say he's arrived. Still just 25 (he'll turn 26 on Jan. 4), the Swiss forward has firmly solidified himself as a vital part of the Devils' top six. If Hischier can avoid the injury issues that limited his last campaign, then he should be a good bet to once again reach the 30-goal and 80-point milestones. He will also provide some added value in leagues that value faceoffs -- he won 56.6 percent of his draws last season for a total of 785 and expecting a similar level of success in 2024-25 is reasonable.
