2025 Fantasy Outlook
Locked into a long-term contract with the Golden Knights, Hanifin is a fixture in the top four and on special teams. The all-around defenseman recorded 10 goals, 29 assists, 145 shots on goal, 106 blocks and a plus-8 rating over 80 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. His 39 points (10 on the power play) represented the third-highest total of his career. He doesn’t provide much physicality in the form of hits, but he has blocked over 100 shots in three consecutive seasons. Ultimately, his ceiling is capped by the presence of Shea Theodore, but Hanifin proved capable of being the team’s top offensive blueliner when Theodore was injured last season, contributing three goals and 12 points across a 14-game sample. That was nearly a third of Hanifin's offense, which makes Hanifin a reliable producer heading into 2025-26, with the potential for much more if he is forced into a larger role. Read Past Outlooks
Helps on all three goals in loss
Hanifin posted three assists (two on the power play), four shots on net and four blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.
ANALYSIS
Hanifin is poised for a larger role on the power play in the absence of Shea Theodore (upper body). The 28-year-old Hanifin made good on that extra usage, helping out on goals by Mitch Marner, Tomas Hertl and Pavel Dorofeyev. This was Hanifin's first multi-point effort of the season, giving him two goals, eight helpers (four on the power play), 65 shots on net, 39 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 24 appearances in a top-four role.

Following his trade to the Golden Knights at the deadline, Hanifin saw action in 26 games for the team across both the regular season and playoffs, generating four goals on 53 shots and 13 assists. With an eight-year, $58.8 million contract extension kicking in this season, the Boston native should be a near-lock for the 40-point threshold after reaching that mark in two of the last three years. Given his excellent skating and ability to move the puck, the 27-year-old blueliner should see opportunities with the man advantage while eating up big minutes. As such, look for Hanifin to offer strong fantasy value thanks to his offensive upside.

Vegas interested
Hanifin has garnered interest from the Golden Knights as a potential trade acquisition, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Vegas is a late entry into the conversation for Hanifin, who has been most closely linked to the Lightning and Panthers. The Golden Knights, who added Anthony Mantha on Tuesday, don't appear to be done shopping yet, with their interest in Hanifin likely tied to Alec Martinez's undisclosed injury that saw the Vegas veteran placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
