2025 Fantasy Outlook
Power took another step forward in his third full NHL campaign, reaching the 40-point mark (seven goals, 33 assists) for the first time. He did that with just six power-play points to his name, and he added 109 blocked shots and a minus-13 rating over 79 appearances. Power, the No. 1 overall pick in 2021, has plenty of promise, but it looks like he'll be in the shadow of Rasmus Dahlin as long as both of them are in Buffalo. However, Power is still just 22 years old, so he has plenty of time to grow into more responsibility and the uptick in production that comes with it. Power is a solid choice to round out a fantasy blue line in 2025-26, and the lower-body injury that ended his 2024-25 campaign in mid-April isn’t expected to linger into the new campaign. A return to the 40-point mark is the expectation. Read Past Outlooks

Won't play Friday
Power (strain) will not be in the lineup to face Pittsburgh on Friday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Power's absence against the Penguins on Wednesday was described as a minor strain, but now the blueliner finds himself missing a second straight game, albeit a minor-league one. If Power can't suit up for Opening Night versus the Rangers on Thursday, the team will have to hope one or both of Mattias Samuelsson (upper body) or Michael Kesselring (undisclosed) return to 100 percent to avoid having to go with an untested blue line.

2022
Although Power was taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, he's more of a two-way defenseman rather than an offensive blueliner, and he consequently doesn't have the same level of fantasy appeal as other top picks. That's especially true in Buffalo, where Power's power-play ice time is limited by the presence of defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Bowen Byram. The 21-year-old Power is still good for 30-40 points, though, and he's also likely to block over 100 shots for the second straight campaign. Just don't expect him to see a massive jump in offensive production during his third full NHL season.
