After a surprising 54-point effort in 2023-24, Kurashev's offensive production dropped precipitously in 2024-25, when he finished with 14 points in 51 appearances. His poor play took him from a top-six lock to a frequent healthy scratch as the Blackhawks brought in new forwards. Kurashev will get a fresh start in San Jose after being cut loose by Chicago in the offseason. There's a wide range of possibilities for Kurashev, given what he's shown in his five seasons, but he could struggle to stay in the lineup if his point production doesn't improve and he continues to struggle defensively. Collects two points Tuesday
Kurashev scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Kings.
				  ANALYSIS
Kurashev earned his first multi-point effort as a Shark. He has three points over his last two contests, which follows a recent two-game stint as a healthy scratch. The 26-year-old is far from a lock to be in the lineup all the time, but he has received top-six minutes and power-play time. He's at four points, 14 shots on net, seven hits, five blocked shots and a plus-1 rating across eight appearances this season.

Kurashev was solid while season top-six usage in his fourth NHL season in 2023-24, picking up 18 goals, 36 assists, 19 power-play points and 128 shots on net while averaging 19:01 of ice time through 75 regular-season contests with Chicago. He should continue to see top-six minutes and healthy power-play usage in 2024-25, and with the Blackhawks seemingly making an effort this offseason to improve the talent surrounding Connor Bedard up front, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team score more goals in 2024-25 - Chicago finished last season with a league-worst 179 goals for. That should lead to more opportunities for Kurashev to write his name on the scoresheet next campaign, potentially giving him a chance to surpass the 20-goal and 60-point marks for the first time in his career next year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

				  Unlikely to play Tuesday
Kurashev will likely be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.
				  ANALYSIS
Kurashev hasn't been very productive early in the season, tallying a goal and a minus-6 rating while averaging 15:54 of ice time over six appearances. Head coach Luke Richardson wasn't very impressed with Kurashev's effort during Saturday's loss to Buffalo, so the 25-year-old will likely be held out for at least one game. Assuming Kurashev doesn't play, Lukas Reichel could see some additional work.
