Philippe Myers

Myers made himself indispensable in 2019-20 with 16 points, 80 hits and a plus-17 rating in 50 appearances. That earned him a three-year contract extension, assuring that Myers will patrol the Flyers' blue line for the foreseeable future. The undrafted blueliner could still take a step forward offensively, but Matt Niskanen's retirement should open up extra minutes in all situations, and Myers may be the one to fill the void. Look for him to challenge the 20-point threshold in 2020-21, while adding strong totals in hits, PIM and even blocked shots. He's worth a look in deeper formats, under the assumption that he wasn't just a one-hit wonder last year.

Myers has established himself as a great AHL defenseman over the last two campaigns, but he has yet to translate that success to the NHL level, and with the offseason additions of Justin Braun and Matt Niskanen, it's worth wondering whether he'll be able to lock down a full-time role with the Flyers in 2019-20. The 22-year-old posted nine goals and 33 points in 53 appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley last year, but in 21 contests with the big club, he only managed one score and two points. The 6-foot-5 Canadian will be fighting for a spot on Philadelphia's bottom pairing during training camp, and almost certainly won't be a dependable fantasy option this season.

A groin injury kept Myers sidelined for much of the first half of last season, but he came on strong to record eight goals and 28 points in 63 AHL games including the playoffs. The 21-year-old was playing so well by spring, it was surprising he didn't receive a chance to appear at the NHL level. Myers could receive that shot in 2018-19, but the Flyers are stacked with talented young defensemen. While it will probably take an injury for Myers to get his NHL chance, he's worth monitoring.
