2025 Fantasy Outlook
Danault has surpassed the 40-point mark in consecutive campaigns after topping 50 points in 2021-22 and 2022-23. He slipped to eight goals and 35 assists in 80 regular-season appearances last year. Danault was productive in spurts before collecting two goals and eight points in six playoff outings. His 6.5 shooting percentage last year was well below his 12.3 percent success rate over his previous three campaigns, making it reasonable to expect a bounce-back performance in 2025-26. For fantasy purposes, he could flirt with the 50-point plateau while being a solid source of faceoff wins. Read Past Outlooks
Earns two helpers
Danault logged two assists, two shots on goal and two PIM in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.
ANALYSIS
Danault picked up his first two points in six games since he was traded to Montreal from Los Angeles. He has slotted into a third-line role since the deal, taking over for Jake Evans (lower body), who is expected to miss most or all of January. Danault has seven helpers, 49 shots on net, 30 hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 36 total appearances between the two teams this season.

Danault has never been an elite center, but as a second-line option, he's serviceable. The 31-year-old had 17 goals and 30 assists across 78 regular-season contests with the Kings last year, making it the fifth time in six years in which he finished with 47-54 points. He did manage to tally 27 goals in 2021-22 -- the only time he's reached the 20-goal mark in his career -- but that was because he launched a career-high 194 shots that season, which is a rate of fire he's never come close to matching before or since. Consequently, he shouldn't be counted on to be a good source of goals. However, the Kings are likely to continue to use him in that second-line center slot, which should help Danault put forth another point total in the range of 45-55.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Reportedly wants out of LA
Per Marco D'Amico of RG Media on Tuesday, Danault, who is contending with an illness, has requested to be traded by the Kings.
ANALYSIS
According to D'Amico, Danault's camp wants a deal to get done as soon as possible, with the hope being prior to the NHL Holiday Roster Freeze. The Kings are willing to wait that out, though, as they seemingly would want to maximize the return in dealing a defensively responsible center. Montreal, New Jersey and Carolina are teams that have reportedly shown interest in acquiring Danault, who has just five assists across 30 appearances this season.
