Pyotr Kochetkov

Pyotr Kochetkov

26-Year-Old GoalieG
Carolina Hurricanes
2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Hurricanes have allowed Kochetkov to slowly build up to being an NHL starter, but it doesn't look like he'll have to take on the No. 1 job alone in 2025-26. He has often alternated starts over the last two years, and he went 27-16-3 with a 2.60 GAA and a .897 save percentage over 47 regular-season contests. The oft-injured Frederik Andersen has been Kochetkov's tandem partner in goal in recent years, and that is set to continue. Still, Kochetkov is talented, and the Hurricanes' system is pretty goalie-friendly. Combined with Andersen's tendency to miss at least one extended chunk of the season, Kochetkov should be a good option in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks

Sharp in Monday's win
GCarolina Hurricanes
November 18, 2025
Kochetkov made 29 saves in Monday's 3-1 win over the Bruins.
ANALYSIS
Kochetkov very nearly collected his second shutout of the season, but Riley Tufte snuck a power-play tally past him with 10 seconds left in the third period. The 26-year-old netminder is a perfect 4-0-0 in five appearances since making his belated season debut Nov. 4, posting a 1.70 GAA and a .926 save percentage. However, the Hurricanes currently seem content to maintain a timeshare in the crease primarily between Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen -- Brandon Bussi is also on the roster, but he's limited to making the occasional start as the team's clear No. 3 -- in an effort to keep both of them healthy.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Kochetkov played excellent hockey in 2023-24. He saw action in 42 games, delivering a 23-13-4 record, 2.33 GAA and .911 save percentage. He even started Game 3 of the Canes' first-round series against the Rangers instead of Frederik Andersen. Kochetkov's 23 wins set a team record for wins by a rookie, and his strong play earned him a nod on the 2023-24 NHL All-Rookie Team. So, what will 2024-25 hold? Starter Frederik Andersen is 34 and has played just one full season in his last four and he's seen action in only 50 of the Canes' possible 162 over the last two years. He's an injury waiting to happen, and Kochetkov's star is on the rise. Thirty wins are within reach and so is a career year.
Kochetkov started the 2022-23 campaign in the minors, but injuries led to him appearing in 24 contests for Carolina, during which he posted a 12-7-5 record, 2.44 GAA and .909 save percentage. That was enough to convince the Hurricanes to lock him down to a four-year, $8 million contract, which could prove to be a bit of a steal if the 24-year-old goaltender's recent work is any indication. In the short term, though, Kochetkov's role with the team is unclear, given that Carolina still has two great veteran options in Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta. It seems all three netminders will start the 2023-24 campaign on the NHL roster with Andersen penciled in as the likely starter, while Raanta and Kochetkov will compete for the No. 2 spot. Unless injuries are once again a factor, Kochetkov might finish the campaign with around 20 starts.

Occupying starter's crease
GCarolina Hurricanes
November 14, 2025
Kochetkov is in the starter's crease at morning skate, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, an indication that he will be guarding the home net versus Vancouver on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Kochetkov was hampered by a lower-body injury at the start of the season and is in line to make only his third start of the campaign. Kochetkov is 2-0-0 in three appearances, turning aside a combined 45 of 48 shots in wins over the Rangers and Buffalo, as well as a relief appearance versus Washington.
