Harvey-Pinard enters the 2025-26 campaign as a fringe roster player for the Penguins after signing a one-year deal with the club in the offseason. In fact, the 26-year-old winger only managed to break into the Canadiens' lineup once last year, recording one hit in 8:54 of ice time. Considering Harvey-Pinard wasn't significantly more productive in the minors -- 19 points in 40 regular-season contests -- he will likely face an uphill battle to secure regular minutes with the NHL squad. Harvey-Pinard didn't get into a game during his call-up with the Penguins last week, but it was a reward for his strong play in the AHL. He's at nine goals and eight assists over 35 outings this season, with four goals and three helpers coming over his last eight contests. The 27-year-old has 84 games of NHL experience, so it's possible the Penguins will give him additional looks later in the campaign.

Harvey-Pinard underwent surgery in July to repair a broken leg. His recovery timeline of four months will shelf him for the entirety of training camp and at least the first month of the 2024-25 campaign. In 45 appearances last season, he earned two goals, 10 points, 47 blocked shots and 47 hits. Harvey-Pinard showcased much more potential in 2022-23 when he notched 14 tallies and 20 points in 34 outings, but his 24.1 shooting percentage was unsustainable. However, he didn't give himself much chance to replicate his success by dropping his shots per game from 1.71 to 0.58. Once the 25-year-old forward is ready to return from his leg injury, he could play up and down the lineup again. Harvey-Pinard could be worthy of a waiver pickup during stretches when he heats up offensively.
