2025 Fantasy Outlook
When Ristolainen is at his best, he can be a solid source of hits and blocks, but his health has been a major issue over the past two seasons. After being limited to 31 games in 2023-24, Ristolainen made his return last campaign with mixed results. He had four goals, 19 points, 14 PIM, 100 shots, 97 hits and 94 blocks in 63 regular-season appearances with Philadelphia. That’s well below his average of 239 hits and 136 blocks per 82 games from 2016-17 through 2022-23, but he had undergone surgery for a ruptured triceps tendon in April of 2024, which might have impacted his offseason training. He’s in the same position after having surgery on his triceps tendon again in March. He is poised to miss training camp and could be out for the start of the 2025-26 campaign. Don’t expect a bounce-back performance from him. Read Past Outlooks

Ristolainen didn't make his season debut until Nov. 25 due to a lower-body injury, and he was unable to play past Feb. 10 because of a ruptured triceps tendon. In between those injuries, the blueliner recorded a goal, four points, eight PIM, 46 shots, 45 blocks and 56 hits in 31 contests with Philadelphia. The Finnish defenseman averaged just 16:41 of ice time, which is well below his career average of 22:50, despite Ryan Ellis being limited to just four contests. Although Ristolainen is projected to be healthy for the start of training camp, his role with the Flyers isn't likely to improve. The 29-year-old will still probably end up with over 125 hits and 100 blocks if he stays healthy, but his offensive production is likely to be minimal.
