Morton will turn 25 before the start of the 2024-25 campaign -- when his deal was scheduled to kick in -- and is therefore not eligible to sign an entry-level contract. The Flames are expected to work out a new deal with the 24-year-old. He racked up 24 goals and 34 points in 37 games with Minnesota State University this season.
