2025 Fantasy Outlook
Blais was a key part of AHL Abbotsford's big season, earning 40 points in 51 regular-season games and another 19 points in 23 playoff outings. The winger has played at least 40 NHL games in four separate seasons, and now, with the Canadiens, he could make the roster as an energy forward in a bottom-six role. The Canadiens could also choose to lean on younger players to fill out the roster, but a strong showing on offense in the AHL could be enough to earn Blais a call-up at times during 2025-26. He could be a source of hits and PIM in fantasy, but most managers can find better depth options. Read Past Outlooks
Logs helper Sunday
Blais posted an assist, six hits and two PIM in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Penguins.
ANALYSIS
Blais was called up earlier in the day and slotted onto the fourth line in place of Jake Evans (lower body), who landed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. This was Blais' first game with the Canadiens after signing with the team in July, as he logged three points in eight games with the Maple Leafs following a waiver claim. Montreal claimed him back in late November. Blais' stay in the NHL could be short, as Phillip Danault (illness) will be with the Canadiens for Tuesday's game versus the Bruins.

Originally traded to the Rangers from St. Louis in the Pavel Buchnevich deal, Blais' infamous run in New York famously came to a conclusion with him failing to score a goal in 54 games with the team over parts of two seasons. He was returned to the Blues in the Vladimir Tarasenko deal this past February and promptly scored in his first game back in his old haunts. Blais has little fantasy value, but he's a better player than he showed during his time in the Big Apple. Expect roughly a dozen goals, 25-30 points and 200-plus hits from him in 2023-24.
