2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gostisbehere’s second stint with the Hurricanes is off to a good start. He had seven goals and 45 points in 70 regular-season outings in 2024-25, which makes it the fourth straight campaign in which he’s reached the 40-point mark. He might not be among the league’s elite blueliners, but being able to consistently get more than 40 points is no small feat. In Gostisbehere’s case, success with the man advantage is key to his success. His 27 power-play points was the fourth best among defensemen, and he accomplished that despite Carolina finishing 25th in power-play percentage (18.7). At the age of 32, he should have good hockey left in him, so another campaign of 40-50 points is a reasonable expectation. Read Past Outlooks
Distributes three helpers
Gostisbehere notched three assists and six shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks.
ANALYSIS
Gostisbehere had primary assists on goals by Andrei Svechnikov (on the power play), Taylor Hall and Sebastian Aho (in overtime) in this contest. This was Gostisbehere's third multi-assist effort of the campaign. The 32-year-old defenseman is up to one goal, 10 helpers, 13 shots on net, eight blocked shots and a plus-10 rating over eight appearances this season. He should be able to build some momentum on offense if he can avoid injuries.

After a brief stint with the Hurricanes during the 2022-23 season, in which Gostisbehere posted 10 points in 23 regular-season games, including five power-play points, the blueliner heads back to Carolina on a three-year, $9.6 million deal. For the second time in the last three seasons, the smooth-skating defenseman was able to top the 50-point threshold. It remains to be seen which of Gostisbehere or Brent Burns will end up on the top power-play unit for Carolina. If Gostisbehere is stuck on the second unit, it could limit his offensive numbers next season, but he should still be productive given the depth of the Hurricanes' offense.

Poised to return
Gostisbehere looks set to return from an abdominal injury against the Capitals on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Gostisbehere was not only skating in the second pairing with Alexander Nikishin but was also working with the No. 1 power-play unit, a pretty good indicator that Gostisbehere will be back in the lineup Tuesday. The defenseman has played in just six games for Carolina this year, but he has produced at a decent rate, racking up one goal and six helpers.
