Simon Benoit

Benoit started the 2022-23 campaign serving as a healthy scratch in four of Anaheim's first 12 contests and averaging just 15:13 of ice time during that span when he did play. His role rapidly grew after that though, and he ended the season as one of the Ducks' top-four defensemen. Benoit finished last year with three goals, 10 points, 60 PIM, 82 shots, 216 hits and 128 blocks in 78 outings while averaging 19:21 of ice time. The 24-year-old has never been a major offensive threat, even during his tenure in the QMJHL and the AHL, so he shouldn't be expected to make significant strides in that regard. Still, for fantasy managers in deeper leagues that reward PIM, hits and blocks, Benoit should have use cases as a member of the Maple Leafs in 2023-24.
