Returning to Spartans
GDetroit Red Wings  College
April 1, 2025
Augustine is heading back to Michigan State for his junior season, Mike McMahon of College Hockey News reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Augustine went 19-7-4 with a .924 save percentage in 30 appearances for the Spartans this year, but he will be looking for redemption after Michigan State came up short in the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey tournament. The decision to stay in college makes sense for the young backstop considering both Petr Mrazek (head) and Cam Talbot are signed for the 2025-26 campaign. Still, Augustine should be in the mix for the future starting gig in Detroit.

GDetroit Red Wings  College
March 28, 2025
Augustine is evaluating whether to sign with the Red Wings or return to Michigan State next season, Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Augustine and the Spartans were eliminated from the 2025 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship on Thursday when they fell to Cornell 4-3. It was an underwhelming appearance for the young netminder, as he gave up four goals on just 17 shots in the loss. Still, it was a solid sophomore campaign overall for Augustine, as he went 19-7-4 with a .924 save percentage in 30 outings with Michigan State. It seems unlikely he would immediately join the Red Wings this year, instead possibly signing a future contract while joining AHL Grand Rapids on an amateur tryout for the rest of 2024-25.
