Emberson was in training camp with the Rangers last season. He had a strong showing in preseason but was waived due to the numbers game. He was claimed by the Sharks and showed extremely well in a 30-game sample with his new club, posting a goal, 10 points, and a perfectly reasonable minus-4 rating while playing for the worst team in the NHL. Emberson missed the final six weeks of the season with a lower-body ailment, but he's expected to be fully healthy for training camp following an offseason trade that saw him head north to Edmonton in a swap for Cody Ceci. Emberson played in 30 NHL games as a rookie last season in which he generated one goal, nine assists and 31 shots while averaging 18:33 of ice time. The 24-year-old defenseman should be on the roster coming out of training camp, though he will need to edge out the likes of Troy Stecher (ankle). If Emberson suits up Opening Night, he could see some time with the No. 2 power-play unit, which would certainly bolster his fantasy value.
