2025 Fantasy Outlook
The old adage goes that defensemen never age well, but Hedman has defied that at every juncture so far. The 34-year-old recorded another monster season in 2024-25 with 15 goals and 51 assists. Most importantly, Hedman missed fewer than seven games for the fourth straight season, showcasing impressive durability. The physical play took a nosedive this past year – 39 hits is the fewest in a season during his entire career – perhaps signaling a stylistic change in play for the defenseman in an effort to stay healthier in the back-nine of his career. That being said, he enters the 2025-26 season as the undisputed No. 1 defenseman and quarterback of the league’s fifth-best power play that returns all of its key pieces. So, assuming he can stay healthy and continue to strong-arm Father Time, Hedman should be a lock to produce another 60-point season with the potential for more.. Read Past Outlooks

Ready to rock
Hedman (undisclosed) will be in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Senators, Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hedman was bothered by an injury late in the preseason, which cost him four games. The 34-year-old was clearly just making sure to be ready for the regular season, and he'll resume his usual role as the Lightning's top overall defenseman.

Hedman bounced back last season, with 13 goals and 76 points in 78 games, following a 49-point performance across 76 outings in 2022-23. He also rebounded from a 14-point showing with the man advantage to picking up 31 power-play points last campaign. Hedman signed a four-year, $32 million contract extension with the Lightning during the offseason after the team traded Mikhail Sergachev to Utah and Steven Stamkos signed with Nashville in free agency. The 33-year-old Hedman will log big minutes in all situations. The signing of Jake Guentzel should help maintain a successful power play, potentially leading to Hedman reaching the 70-point mark again in 2024-25.
