2025 Fantasy Outlook
Desharnais suited up for three teams in 2024-25, logging 51 games between the Canucks, Penguins and Sharks. He produced just three assists, all coming with the Canucks, as well as 87 hits and 83 blocked shots. His stock has fallen pretty dramatically after he broke through with 11 points, 134 hits and 122 blocked shots over 78 regular-season games in 2023-24 with the Oilers. He's with the Sharks for 2025-26, but after the team added John Klingberg, Nick Leddy and Dmitry Orlov over the summer, it's fair to wonder if Desharnais will be a regular in San Jose's lineup, and that's before any prospect promotions are considered. Dealing with upper-body injury
Desharnais (upper body) will miss Saturday's game against Vegas, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.
ANALYSIS
Desharnais missed Friday's 3-2 win over Vancouver. It was originally believed that he was a healthy scratch for that game, but head coach Ryan Warsofsky revealed Saturday that Desharnais has been dealing with this injury "for a little bit," so perhaps that had a bearing on Warsofsky's decision. Desharnais is currently considered day-to-day, but the coach also said he's "gotta get it looked at," which suggests that the 29-year-old defenseman will undergo further evaluation. Desharnais has two assists, 28 hits and 34 blocks in 20 outings this season. Vincent Iorio drew into the lineup Friday and will likely play again Saturday due to Desharnais' absence.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Desharnais was a full-time player for the Oilers last season, appearing in 78 of 82 regular-season games before being scratched for nine of Edmonton's final 10 postseason appearances. He offered nothing offensively, managing just a single goal and 11 points. Desharnais did post 134 hits and 122 blocks but even those numbers aren't significant enough to give him value in such formats. Desharnais inked a two-year, $4 million contract with the rival Canucks in free agency and he will go about attempting to win a bottom-pairing role with his new club.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might play in Game 2
Desharnais could rejoin the lineup for Game 2 against the Panthers on Monday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Desharnais has served as a healthy scratch for the Oilers' last four games but looks poised to reclaim a spot in the lineup Monday. If the 28-year-old blueliner does suit up, it may not be a straight defenseman-for-defenseman swap, as it seems Edmonton might be willing to roll with seven blueliners. If that's the case, Corey Perry could find himself back in the press box as a healthy scratch.
