Perhaps most impressive was the fact that he was only a minus-7 player on a team that had the worst goal differential in the league. Even at just 22 years old, you can write him in pen in the Sharks' top-six and a power-play spot. However, there are some question marks with Eklund – for instance, how his recovery from a scary offseason wrist injury that required surgery progresses. The Sharks' level of commitment to another rebuilding year will be a determining factor in Eklund’s production. If the youngster has linemates to play with and stays healthy – he’s missed only seven games in his two full NHL seasons – there’s no reason that the 2021 seventh-overall pick can’t continue to grow and evolve into one of the NHL’s superstar wingers.
