2025 Fantasy Outlook
The 2024-2025 campaign was Eklund’s best, setting a new career high with 58 points in 77 games. Perhaps most impressive was the fact that he was only a minus-7 player on a team that had the worst goal differential in the league. Even at just 22 years old, you can write him in pen in the Sharks' top-six and a power-play spot. However, there are some question marks with Eklund – for instance, how his recovery from a scary offseason wrist injury that required surgery progresses. The Sharks' level of commitment to another rebuilding year will be a determining factor in Eklund’s production. If the youngster has linemates to play with and stays healthy – he’s missed only seven games in his two full NHL seasons – there’s no reason that the 2021 seventh-overall pick can’t continue to grow and evolve into one of the NHL’s superstar wingers. Posts helper in Sunday's win
Eklund notched an assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Bruins.
ANALYSIS
Eklund has picked up three helpers over his last five games. The 23-year-old winger has been in a top-six role this season, but outside of a five-game point streak in late October, he hasn't been all that impactful on offense. He's at least been fairly consistent with five goals, nine helpers, 43 shots on net, 16 hits, 15 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating over 19 appearances.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
The Sharks knew from the start of the 2023-24 campaign that they weren't going to make the playoffs, so they kept an eye on the future, giving the young Eklund key minutes. The 21-year-old had 16 goals and 45 points across 80 contests. While playing for San Jose did result in him getting a lot of ice time, it also meant that the quality of his linemates wasn't great. Perhaps because of that, Eklund never got to settle in with anyone in particular, instead being thrown onto the ice with a rotating group of forwards. Those are issues that might be resolved this year with Logan Couture likely to be healthy and top prospect Macklin Celebrini set to make his NHL debut, leaving Eklund with far better players to work with. That assignment, combined with his own growth should lead to Eklund finishing with 50-60 points in 2024-25.
